Session 1:  What Does the SECURE Act Mean for our Donors? Advising on Making IRA Beneficiary Designations Before Death and Taking Minimum Distributions After Death

The minimum distribution rules are complex. Trusts can be named as beneficiaries of a retirement account, but choices need to be made by the client and the advisor.  Most of our clients fall into one of a relatively few categories: by examining common fact patterns, financial professionals will learn how to advise most of their clients most of the time. By understanding how non-charitable beneficiaries will receive distributions during lifetime and after death, charitable planners can help their clients to think strategically about charitable gifts.
